Pack 42
Pinewood
All leaders received the car kits for their
dens on November 20th. Please
distribute them to your scouts.
On the Hayride evening December 4th
we will hold a “clinic” to provide help and tips to the racers and their Akelas. If and of your
den members has worries or questions, encourage them to come for that even if
they don’t want to ride in the hay.
The racing will be on a Saturday. The evening before, we will be setting-up in
the church basement. The scale will be
available. Encourage your den members to
pre-weigh. The fastest cars will be
close to five ounces in weight. However,
no car will be allowed to weight more than five ounces.
On Saturday, January 23rd we
will race at the scheduled times, but racers must surrender their cars 15
minutes before that scheduled time. And
while it is true that we will be racing against the clock (and not other cars)
to determine the winners, the scouts are required to race at the scheduled time
and may not race later in the day.
Note also that the Pack is not providing
food. If you want to do that for your
den, you must provide it and then manage the necessary clean-up.
This is a big production and involves many
volunteers. (The pack is providing
coffee and bagels for the volunteers.) Please
express the appreciation to any Akelas in your den
who have come forward to help. And if
you are one of them, please know that one hundred Cub Scouts are grateful.
