Pack 42
Pinewood
So you wanna
race? Good. First, check the Race Day Schedule.
If you show up at the time it says on the
schedule, you are already very late. The
schedule shows the start time for your age group but there are many things you
must do before your car can be raced. At
minimum, you must turn your car in.
For your car to race, you must turn your
car over to the Registrar who needs to check the weight, dimensions and some
other things. It is a good idea to give
him your car 15 minutes before your race time so that he will have time to
check it and you will have time to fix anything that he finds wrong with it.
But you might want to come even earlier than
that. Before you give up your car, you
can visit the Mechanic’s Table to add graphite to your axles and otherwise
tune-up your car. And check out the
competition.
And then later, after your races, you can
claim your car and have the portrait photographer take your photograph. The pictures of your and your Akela with the car you built together will be posted on
this website.
So come early and stay late. See you then!
Recap:
First, go to the
mechanic’s table to do any last-second fine-tuning.
Then, turn your car over
to the Registrar. He will check the
weight and assign a number to your car.
Watch the races!
If you were one of the
fastest cars in your age group, your car will be held until it is run in the
Pack Championship. Otherwise, get your
car back and get your picture taken with it!
Good job, Cub Scout!
